Tile Colors

All The Colors You Desire Right At The Touch Of Your Fingertips

WHAT TILE COLOR IS BEST FOR MY PROJECT?

Choosing the proper tile for your construction project can be an overwhelming experience. Not only must you narrow down the style, material, and the finish, but you must choose the right color. At Tile Source, we believe choosing the right color of tile is a great first step to take in narrowing down your options. Plus, the right tile color can communicate your personality. We
believe this because the color of the tile or subway tile is what primarily sets the tone of the room. Sure, there are different textures and patterns to choose from, yet by starting with color you make the journey of choosing the right tile for your new construction or remodeling project that much easier. When choosing a color of tile, there are few things you must consider.

Room Size

Light colored tile can make a small room look bigger. This is particularly true for cream and pastel colored tile since they reflect light. Plus, light colored tiles are good for corridors and water closets or half-baths. On the other hand, dark colored tiles work great in large areas with open floor plans like a kitchen or patio. Dark colors like navy and blue work great in areas with lots of natural light from windows or sky lights. Stenciled white and black tiles give off a retro, vintage look in any kind of area.

Color Strategy

Grey and beige tiles are also nice neutral colors, yet whichever colors you choose, you must do so with a strategy in mind. For example, some choose to use the same tile color on the walls of the room. Others use contrasting colors on the walls and fixtures. You can also mix and match tile colors. Whichever strategy you choose is up to you, but remember the rule of three: use no more than three colors of the same color palate in a room, and you can create an amazing vibe. More than that, it becomes very distracting and perhaps a bit garish.

Foot Traffic

For areas that get a lot of foot traffic, it is a good idea to go with a darker colored tile. Brown, dark grey, and hunter green can make these areas feel elegant and cozy. These bold colors work particularly well in kitchens and entryways, but also in large bathrooms with plenty of light. On the other hand, areas that are more private work well with white, cream, or even
greyeige tiles. These colors are easy to incorporate with any wall design and give off a relaxed mood. Plus, this allows for the wall designs to stand out.
